(Hey) I’ve got some real good reasons why I lose my head, why I can’t lay still in bed. (Hey) And I’m allowed to be angry; another brother’s dead after giving up his meds. (Oh in the dead of night) I can feel my heart beating slow. (Can you tell wrong from right?) I can tell I don’t... (I don’t know!) I’ve got a feeling I won’t be into this. (I’ve got a feeling. I got a feeling) I’ve got a feeling I won’t be into this. (I’ve got a feeling. I got a feeling) Oh. (Hey) I’m sick of running on empty; I’ve gotta get some rest but you drag me out of bed. (Hey) And it’s so easy to tempt me; with inhibitions shed I can’t feel that sense of dread. (Hey) And everybody gets lonely; two is you and me, but I’m trying to count to three. (Hey) And my position seems senseless; drifting out to sea, it’s the best that things can be. I’ve got a feeling I won’t be into this. Hey. Hey. Hey.

Unromantic 02:46
You could never live without me, baby. I own everything in our flat that you need. I know you think it’d be fun to be alone and ‘see what happens’, but you could never live without me, you’d see. It’s unromantic to say necessity is what keeps us together. (I) don’t want a perfect display. (I) don’t wanna advertise our affection, so I say: You could never live without me, baby. I own everything in our flat that you need. I know you think it’d be fun to be alone and ‘see what happens’, but you could never live without me, you’d see. Gotta hide our affection (you see), make it out like it’s blind intention. Don’t wanna perfect display. Don’t wanna advertise our affection, so I say: I think you need me. I don’t care if it’s unromantic! You could never live without me, baby. I own everything in our flat that you need. I know you think it’d be fun to be alone and ‘see what happens’, but you could never live without me, you’d see.

Socioplath 03:16
I don’t dance, I grind, like your teeth in the night, when you’re dreaming of the people you never did right by. Yeah, I crumble when you’re in the mix, like a tooth I could never be fucked to get fixed. I won’t respond when you ask ‘How’s tricks?’ I’m not a pony, bitch, though I’m genuine. Like an animal who hasn’t got the brains to design games so others get lost in their petty politics. (So they get lost in their petty politics). You’ve been a climber since you barely even left the vagina, drinking Breezers as a minor, but only with the right peeps. Your eyes glaze as you do the maths, sizing up the people standing in your path. [You’re a sociopath, you’re not a Sylvia Plath, The only lines you’ve got are slashed through people You don’t think are up to/ scratch.] Scratch/ this, bitch, your heart is a raisin the kids you once dissed picked out of their trail mix. It needs a reason to beat that’s not an image of you in an executive suite. (You in an executive suite.) Now that you’ve set your best self apart, her forgotten counterpart, would have never, never, never, never wanted it that way. D’you give up, you glut, you hungry for more? Guess what, I don’t want a bar of what you’re fighting for. Wrap your little mitts around this: Have you ever cared for anyone who wasn’t going to make you rich? Could you live if you knew you’d never be rich?
4.
Made up my mind late yesterday, I’m gonna leave you, you don’t need it, anyway. Not gonna wait another day, I’m going easy! You won’t see me again. We did it your way while we were together - now, you’re not gonna see me, you’re not gonna see me. Bet you’ll find someone else in a second, and you won’t need it, you’ll be sleeping easier. I don’t need you! I could tell you a million different ways, but it’s the same point every day. And you don’t want it, yet you want it to stay. But that’s not how it’s gonna come together, and you know it, cause it’s not easy, we know it’s caught on me: Every part of you, every place you’ve been, every space you breathe, I wanna breathe it in too, I wanna breathe into you. I waited so long that you wouldn’t care. I feel nothing for you it’s a blank stare, I don’t need you. To everything I’ve been thinking and telling this is the last time. To everything I’ve been thinking and telling this is the last time.

Control 03:58
You’re bored to tears, and I’ve got so many ideas, but I know, You don’t want to hear it. I know you don’t want to hear it. My teenaged countenance is shattered by such confidence. And I’m nobody’s sister. I’m nobody's little sister. Well, Rimbaud talks of idle youth, I wonder if that bothers you. And Burroughs, with his crazy dreams, finds silence at the core of things, But, you don’t want to hear it and I’m nobody's little sister, ah oh. I heard about a great new nightclub, Where they play all the songs we ever loved. If you find your way, you know, you know I’ll be here to stay. Coz it’s the start of a new thing, And it took all my strength just to ring. But the future shines bright in the middle of the night. Are you impressed, you see, I’ve gotten myself dressed, And there’s someone here to see me, Oh yeah, someone wants to see me. I never had the words you want; a poor romantic dilettante, Who never learnt to say no, No I never learnt to say no. Well Rimbaud made the world stand still, I wonder if that bothers you, And Burroughs knew control could never lead to anything you need, But you don’t want to hear it and there’s somebody here to see me, ah oh.

We Need This 02:54
We fell into a ditch, we’d had too much to drink. The humidity was thick, we needed this. This started off as a plan to maybe do something without them, to find our own way and work it out along the way. I am in need of this, for some sanity! I can’t be free of the insincerity! Oh, take me to that place. First! We’ll forgo those plans we made woman to woman, we’ll open up our minds, we’ll let them tell us sometimes, we’ll let them be right sometimes. Hold strong and pretend we’ll get there in the end. Moments of regret? We haven’t had them yet. We’re nowhere near that yet. I am in need of this, for some sanity! I can’t be free of the insincerity! Oh, take me to that place. And they’ll say: Who are you? I-M-P-E-R-I-A-L BROADS! You’re unaware of it, it’s unseen it’s unheard. Oh, take me to that place.

Same Old 02:50
I’ve had enough, you’ve heard that. There’s nothing left that we haven’t already done every day of the work week. Or a Saturday. Or a Sunday. Work out what’s happening every day. Thinking about it makes it the same. The same old. You’ve had enough, I’ve heard that. You’re uninspired, there’s no time to do anything that we actually wanna do. Like read a book. Or watch a film in bed on the weekend. Work out what’s happening every day. Thinking about it makes it the same. The same old.

Lovers 03:38
12.
Our cheeks are heavy, our eyes turned low. You’ve gone where all the living go before your time, and drugs and wine never could keep you back. Winter’s here, it’s filled the garden. Call me when the sun has parted company with northern climates. I’m bedding down. Somehow we looked up: A green balloon! A green balloon to trail through the sky all afternoon. Higher, lighter. Four years later, early May, I’m swimming across Gordon’s Bay. You told me I’d forget you in a couple of years. The sky is bright, the water sharp, I hover above a reef shark. It starts, and I look up, and there you are. Whenever I look up: A green balloon! A green balloon to trail through the sky all afternoon. Higher, lighter. A green balloon to trail through the sky all afternoon. Higher, lighter. A green balloon! A green balloon!

about

Imperial Broads Sydney, Australia

A noisy, deranged, pop explosion led by three singer-songwriters making a delightfully raucous and melodic sound. Starting out with ambitious ideas of making harmony-packed punk music, the band has developed into the strange but catchy combo of distortion and groove created by Pip Smith, Eve Lande and Lauren Crew.

The bands sound is gleefully completed by drummer, Nick Kennedy and producer Liam.
